These short blades are a very similar pattern to the original model we stocked in the 50cm length (model 187), with a slightly curvier blade. The main difference is that they are significantly lighter than the 187 model (by around 50 gm) while still being a robust blade.
Don’t expect to cut down trees with this blade, though – it’s not a brush blade. We don’t stock brush blades because we’re of the view that if you’re targeting something that requires a brush blade, you’re probably better off using a tool other than a scythe (e.g. a billhook). The extra weight of a brush blade makes for a fairly heavy experience, and the “invincible” feel of a brush blade can encourage reckless mowing which is more likely to damage your snath as well.
Marshall owns a Schroeckenfux 50cm brush blade and it stays in the shed for comparison only: it weighs 675 gm compared to these at 350 gm – that weight difference hanging on the end of a snath has a big impact on the overall experience.
We peen all Falci blades at no additional cost.
Variation available: customise your tang elevation (“As it comes” means we make no changes).
